Description

Born in one of Guatemala's most beautiful valleys, Antigua, this Bella Carmona grows encompassed by mineral-rich volcanic soil and the world's best climate for coffee trees. It's a blend of Bourbon cherries processed at Beneficio Bella Vista Mill, which is owned by the Zelayas- a family with decades of coffee experience and a passion for preserving the environment: improving overall soil health and quality, preventing disease, and sharing their practices with smaller farms.

The coffee has a slight bitter note, but full bodied. It is on the stronger side and definitely has a high caffeine content. Would Buy again.

For those of you roasting with the SR800 with extension tube, or anyone really, roasting the Antiqua’s one minute into first crack, then dial down the temperature just a notch till end (SR800 Settings after your Dry Phase 6/9/XX into FC, time one minute, then 6/8/XX and End it @ 6/8/8:00 Fan/Heat/Time remaining from 20:00). Wow! Flavor explodes! Excellent Medium-Dark Coffee.

I will admit that I didn’t quite nail the roast on this coffee but still got some amazing berry and chocolate flavors. Will definitely be trying this one again.

Received in Guatamalan sample pack during 22% off sale, this is probably my new favorite, replacing the La Flor del Cafe. Roasted to City+. Wonderful aroma just fills the house. It's even smoother, creamier and more milk chocolatey. Taste coats your mouth and stays there for a while. Just outstanding!

If you get the roast right this is impressive coffee roasted long to get into 2nd crack pulling at 430F as a dark medium. I have never had Guatemalan coffee bought pre roasted this good. Great flavor to the last drop.

This is #3 in my list - Sumatra, Columbian and this one in the order of my ranking....I think this one is not as strong/bold as Sumatra - I am mostly a bold-coffee lover...

Great for espresso. Originally bought these beans already roasted from a well known roaster. Decided to seek it out and roast for myself and couldn't be happier. We primarily roast for espresso, took it to 2nd crack as others have mentioned with very nice profile. I'll also agree, a minimum of 3 days to off gas made all the difference. Would highly recommend.

Really like this coffee. Roasted just shy of the 2nd crack. This is fast becoming a regular morning treat, with just a touch of Italian Sweet Cream.- French Press style. Highly recommend.

The beans were inconsistent in sizing. I was not able to attach a photo lineup of the culprits. This caused a bit of difficulty in timing of roasting. I always do a few test batches. The first batch roasted much quicker than I expected given the reported altitude at which the plants are cultivated. I stopped at the beginning of second crack. We prefer a darker roast but I wanted to see if I would be missing out on flavor. The coffee had a milder taste which was expected. The next batch was taken through the second crack. Smoke appeared earlier than expected. We ended up with a dark bean, brown not black. We experimented with the amount of coffee needed for brewing and have found a great result. Would buy again. Don’t forget to rest and de-gass.

Really nice coffee. As of this minute, I'm drinking a cup made in my French press. Nothing not to love about this bean. Just buy some.

We roasted this to a dark roast pushing the roast and color without burning. Result was a great color, aroma and oil appearance. It was ground coarse for French Press use. I personally have not tasted it, since it for someone else.

This has been my daily brew for years, it’s so good that I’m afraid to let the secret out. This marvelously complex coffee is an integral component to the quality of my life and a gray fog would likely mask my morning world without it. Please don’t increase demand and drive up the price. It would increase the number of grumpy old people hunting me down, because I released the truth about this secret elixir.

Excellent cup of coffee!! Roasted FC in my Behmor 1600+ AB (from CBC), rested/degassed 5 days, brewed drip in my Brazen Plus & immediate reaction was creamy buttery chocolate ... all the way to taking that last gulp of cooled coffee (which I NEVER do) before refilling, 2nd cup was the same - buttery chocolate to the cooled end -delicious. Glad that I bought 10#, will definitely reorder!!

Very good bean! Nice balance. It's just a good, full, rich flavor. I've been a light roast guy till I got my own roaster from CBC, but now I'm loving the medium to darker roasts better. I roasted this just barely into 2nd Crack, about 8 minutes on my SR800 till I shifted to cool down mode. I think I didn't like darker roasts before this because of the charcoal stuff from Starbucks. lol. There is a limit to "dark". This bean is worth buying again. I got in a Guatemala Sample Pack. CBC has super good service and it's very fast. Good folks there.

I roast this dark and grind fine for moka-pot. Wonderful, rich cup at 60 or 70gms/L. Used to press, but came to enjoy the richness of this bean in espresso.

As a gift I received a sampler pack with 16 varietals. Though I liked them all, this is my favorite. I’ll still try other varieties (the joy is in the hunt) but I like this enough to get 5 lbs. Mmm.

We love variety, so I normally roast 2 different lbs. of coffee each week. Last week it was CBC's Mocha Java Blend and this one, Guatemala Bella Carmona Antigua. We make one pot of one and the next pot of the other. I love them both, but at the end of the week, we ran out of the Guatemalan, before the other. I think it safe to say which one we liked better over the other with this particular pairing. African coffees and South American coffees are both just unique as each coffee is from all the separate areas (countries). Guatemalan has long been a favorite and have not had any in awhile. This was just a beautiful coffee in my nostrils when roasting. It is flavorful and has a nice taste of satisfaction lingering in the mouth. A well selected coffee CBC, well done! Would definitely order again!

I'm not a coffee sophisticate, I just want a good rich cup that has no bitterness. I've been roasting for 10 years and went through all kinds of beans looking for something better than the last. But, in this Guat. bean, I have the good cup for a good price. BTW, I use a moka pot with espresso grind at 60gm/L.

This offers me an alternative to my regular Ethiopian coffee, and it is a wonderful cup. Roasted in my Behmor 1600 to the start of 2nd crack, I find this a very enjoyable way to start my day.
