Description

Rwanda coffee flavor profiles have a very clean, crisp and balanced cup, with medium to lightly-heavy acidity (not as much as Kenya or Ethiopia). The cup is very clean and pleasant with bright acidity and notes of sweet, raisin, dried tropical fruit.

We are proud to introduce you to the women of Hingakawa Women’s Coffee Cooperative. The Hingakawa Association is one half of the Abakundakawa-Rushashi Cooperative which was formed in 2004, becoming the first women’s coffee farmer association of its kind in Rwanda.

The other half of Abakundakawa Rushashi is the Dakundakawa (“We love Coffee”) Association, also 100% run by women. Both coffee growing associations are located in the northern, mountainous regions of the Gakenke district, situated at high altitudes (1700-1900 meters elevation) and with coffee farms spread across five distinct zones. This Rwandan coffee bean is a bourbon varietal, washed and sun dried.

There's coffee and then... there's coffee. We roasted these just past the first crack (we like the caffeine) and the flavors stand out. This is a bold flavor. We also detected a floral note; it's almost syrupy with a note of sweetness. I can tell you, this knocked our socks off. Don't add anything... no milk or cream... you'll miss out on the complex flavors if you do. The best.

This is our first purchase of Rowanda beans and we are very pleased with the quality and flavor of this bean. We took the first batch just past 2nd crack and it's fabulous. We've been roasting for 4 years using a camp stove and cast iron pan for 1/2 lb batches...our hobby. Our favorite cup is a blend of Rowanda & Burundi in a moka pot. Heavenly.

An awesome roast! We were looking for a good organic and FTO coffee, and stumbled upon this one -- and we were pleasantly surprised with that we found! Very tasty, and we love how it goes to support the co-op! We will be definitely be ordering more in the future.

I am new to roasting green coffee beans. I am so glad I choose these as my first beans to roast. They are delectable. I can only image I will get better at roasting and the coffee will become even more enjoyable. I also enjoy supporting the CO-OP and FTO.

New to coffee roasting- am using a behmor, stopping short of 2nd crack for these. These are my top beans so far. Full, but delicate flavor-rich & fullfilling.

Great flavor with medium roast and with medium-darker roast. Richer flavor with a little darker roast. Very happy with this bean and will buy again.

After buying the sample packs, we have settled on Rwanda beans. They are our favorite. We typically brew half-caf mixing the Rwanda with the Ethiopian decaf beans. We roast just until hearing second crack. Very good coffee and dependably consistent.

Tried this in a sample pack and ordered more. I am very particular about flavor of the beans and I Love this coffee, roasted to full city, rested for a few days. Bold, and complex, full bodied, no bitterness, very smooth, full of flavor. Extremely pleased with the results and my fellow coffee critics love it too!

Great dry aroma that makes you impatient to finish brewing, good all around balance of flavor, body and cup aroma, roasted at full city barely plus (I kill the heat at the first second crack, transfer to cooling bowl and let it coast, sort of a full city with and edge to it)

Discovered this coffee using CBC's great search tools. While I don't feel at all confident about describing a coffee flavor, I can look at the characteristics others have applied to the coffees I like, and get experiment with something similar. Rwanda Hingakawa is a great cup at City+. And doing business with CBC is always seamless and worry-free. Thanks!

This is our go to bean. Full City is delicious. I've tried more expensive beans and still go back this one.

Part of the sample pack and I used it to learn more about my Hottop K2+ . Roasted it to Full City+ because I wasn’t paying attention. Just to see where 2C would start. Dropped it at 12:00 @ 390f. Not as good as the Uganda as a dark roast but still very drinkable. Based on the other reviews, I will try to do this at a lighter roast level and see where that takes me. I like the idea that I’m supporting a CoOp.
